The Trip 2009 - Sweden 22

Thursday 23rd July.

We woke to a sunny morning but the weather slowly started to deteriorate and became very overcast.

Today is the big day, Elin is having her first baby ultrasound. Jim phoned just after 0900 to say that everything was OK and he was sending us an email and a phone text photo. I could hear his chest sticking out over the phone!!

We walked down to Central station where we met Elin and Mia and then caught the No.47 bus to a point near the Royal Theatre. At Strandvagen we caught a ferry to the small island of Fjaderholmama, which is a working craft community. Very interesting.

Elin and Mia on the ferry.

A bit dark and dismal on the water.

A nice place to have lunch, just wish the weather had been a little kinder, still the food was good.
Skagen as usual for me.

They must have caught some big fish here. Just look at those teeth!

Some of the work studios.

How could you not be creative in surroundings like this.

Back at the ferry point.

Back in Stockholm, Mia caught the train back to Sollentuna while Elin came back to the apartment with us. When Jim finished work he came to the apartment, and despite us all saying we couldn't eat a thing, we went out to dinner. We went to a very nice local Italian restaurant called Dolce Vita.

After dinner Elin and Jim headed for home and we walked back to the Kungsholms Kyrka and caught the last half of the performance by the Orthodox Singers. During a break in the programme, we managed to creep in, found seats and then sat spellbound. It truly was a magical and very emotional experience, one I will never forget.
