That time of year.

Its that time of year again, Marmalade making time. We have plenty of fruit and the whole process is very satisfying.



This is Seville Marmalade.





A lovely colour.



I think we should have had a bit more peel in it but only time and sampling will tell.







Now what can I do with these Grapefruits??



I just couldn't resist extending the fruit theme by adding this photo. Its a strawberry and rhubarb base for a crumble pie that Elin made for us while we were in Sweden.

I've just checked the marmalade stock in the pantry and we still have a jar of Seville from 2010 and five jars of three fruit marmalade, seville, navel and lime, from 2011. Well matured and just waiting for the toast!!

Homecoming.

Yes we are home again but more of that later.

Its fine to have an extended holiday but it just proves that you shouldn't go away for a long time and leave a garden to its own devises, even in an Australian Winter.



The orange trees were bending under the weight of fruit.



As were the grapefruits.



Friends and neighbours had used as many as they could but there were still plenty to be striped off the trees.

Dont talk to me about weeds!! This is the rose bed that I started to weed before the thought of a photograph occurred to me. Some weeding has been done.



This will give some idea of the height of the weeds!!



Here the weeding is complete, the roses have been pruned and are being fed.



Some mulch has been applied with more to follow.

There have been many trips to the tip and many more to come as we now start the cutting back of winter growth and shrubs etc. So much to do!
