Blue Tongue Lizards.

In the garden yesterday some of the birds were getting very noisy and agitated and we went to look what the matter was we found that there was a large Blue Tongue lizard walking along the edge of the garden. We have seen them quite often and this reminded me of photos I had taken back in March 2005.





This is a small one we found in the garden being tempted by James with a teaspoon full of buttermilk.




Which it enjoyed so was given a saucer full.

Since then we have heard rustling in the garden bushes and caught glimpses of lizards from time to time. One day we were sitting outside and watched a pair of mature lizards run across the lawn, which was lovely to see and meant that if there was a pair there could be more.

The one below was caught soaking up the sun early one morning. Its hard to get a scale of his size from the photo but he was about 600mm long.

Bird Baths

As we have been having a very hot summer and the birds in the garden have only one water bowl, we decided to give them another source of water. An old ladder was cut up and two of my old platters were placed on top, sitting between the ladder rungs. The birds soon took to it, especially our nearly tame Magpies.







This is my number one gardening assistant,





who soon found the bird baths,




and as everyone knows two bowls mean double the amounts of splashing,





and it even tastes good.

Christmas 2006

Well its all over for another year and we hope everyone had a happy time.



The Christmas tree was decorated and had loads of presents under it.



Alex couldn't wait to get his hands on some of the goodies under the tree.



The little Christmas Imp had a great time with his new bean bag -



and all his other presents.



He thought the food was pretty good also -



and can't wait for next Christmas.
