Machinery weekend.

Last weekend was the annual Antique Machinery Show at the local Clarendon Showground. 

The usual big majestic steamers were there.

A huge collection of working stationery steam engines from all over the state.

A history of chainsaws, some even double handed.

 

Tractors of all shapes, sizes and vintage. Some of the tractors were fully restored show machines but most were still hard working models straight out of the paddock.

This years show was bigger than usual as it was also the 50th Anniversary of Kenworth trucks being in Australia.

As mentioned, it was also a big day for the Kenworth trucks.

Magnificent pieces of machinery.

No, you don't need new glasses, the truck on the right is a fully working 1/76th scale semi-trailer powered by a 1600cc Holden Gemini motor and automatic gearbox. The tractor unit and trailer have an overall length of just under 7M  

 

 The inside is fully detailed and when being driven, the driver protrudes through the sun roof.

Flowers.

During the first month of Spring each year, the David Jones store in Sydney has a big display of flowers. These are just a few of the photographs I took.
When Di suggests that we go to see the DJ's flower display I know that its really her excuse to SHOP!



Even being some of the first people through the doors at 9.30am, I still had to jostle with other photographers for the best shots.



There were magnificent orchids everywhere.
I recognize a lot of the flowers but don't know the names so just enjoy the photos. These are orchids and a member of the Protea family.









These are the flower heads of the Gymea Lily, which normally stands over 2 meters tall.







As we walked around the city we found other places that were carrying on the Spring theme.



This is a cascade of paper flowers in the Strand Arcade.



In the Queen Victoria Building, suspended below the central dome, were huge flowers made by a local artist from paper and card.



This sculpture, which hung over three floors, swung and rotated with the air currents within the building . Their colours alongside the newly painted building made a nice picture.

New Ute.

Six years ago this month I did a blog about a new used Ute that I'd bought, well it was getting a bit old and had plenty of kms on the clock so I decided to take the plunge and trade it in.



This is the replacement. Its a Holden 1 Tonne table tray with ladder racks, the rear one being removable, and storage boxes both sides just in front of the rear wheels. The inside is in very good condition, its very comfy and has aircon, heating, radio and all the usual mod cons.



Looking at these photos has bought home how dry and brown everything is. We have been home for seven weeks now and in all that time we have only had a very brief shower. Considering that we are into Spring now I just hope we get some good rain soon or the water bills will be massive.

Bens Birthday.

Last weekend was a big occasion.
It was Fathers Day so we all met up at Beckys for a BBQ on Sunday but I didn't get a look in, it was a joint celebration with Ben as it was his 4th birthday the following day.



I think he was a little over awed with all the birthday presents.



Luckily his big brother was on hand to help with opening some of them.



The most popular present was a full doctor/surgeons outfit.




Again, luckily his big brother was on hand to be administered to.



What a way to spend a Sunday afternoon!!



Becky laid on a lovely lunch but everyone knows that any birthday celebrations aren't complete without the cake, or in this instance, cakes.



First there was The Hungry Catapillar cake.




Then a Rainbow cake.



Yummy!!!
