Bits and pieces.

I was just deleting photos from the camera card and came across these.

One of Alex's favourite adventures when he is staying with us is a Saturday morning trip to the tip. Both the Ute and the trailer are full of green waste, grass clippings, tree pruning etc.

Nearly walked into this massive spider web a few nights ago. Its amazing how strong they are, like walking into a fishing net.

Just a Huntsman Spider, one of our many interesting fauna.

Decorating !

For some time now we have thought that something must be done about the ceiling in our lounge and dinning areas. The ceilings are timber lined, with a natural finish, but over the years they have gradually darkened. To sand it back to its original finish would mean working upside down from scaffolding. It would be a bit like Michael Angelo working on the ceiling in the Sistine Chapel, and probably take as long.

The radical decision was taken to paint over the timber which would generally lighten the areas but also bring in reflected light from the upper windows.

It was still hard work, having to use many coats of primer and undercoat while working off extension ladders.

The end result is what we wanted. The area is now very light and bright but still showing some of the texture and joints of the timber planking. Now of course the walls need some paint so really its turned into a major redecorating project.

Maybe it was fate that determined we did some decorating, as since starting we have had the terrific news that we are having some Swedish visitors. Elin, Jim and baby Johan will be arriving at the end of this month and staying through until the first week in June.

To say that everyone is excited would be an under statement. We are counting down the days!!
