New camera

As some of you may be aware, I treated myself to a new camera for Christmas. A bit of over  indulgence I must admit but something I actually worked for.

A Galah on the bird feeder.

These are telephoto shots and I am impressed with the detail.

It takes some getting used to but this is just a trial. See the blue bush in the middle distance ......

Dont try to turn this photo over, its up the right way, the bird is trying to get seed from the feeder.

Great detail of the plummage.

Lots more to learn yet but enjoying every moment.

I've been a little busy.

Becky and Graham asked me to build them a deck at the rear of their house, and as Graham was on holiday it seemed a good time to start just after the Christmas celebrations had died down. Unfortunately it was at one of the hottest times of the year.

The first post set in the ground.

 No, its not going to be a very high deck, the poles are that high to carry a pergola above.

Why do plumbers always put pipes where I want to put a post. In this hole there were three different systems.

The top finished and the decking boards layed loose.

 

Handrails added.

All the timber work is finished. It just needs shade cloth to be installed once the painting is completed by the clients!

A belated Christmas.

When I say belated I don't mean that Christmas came late, rather my Christmas blog is late.

Christmas didn't have the same pizzazz as last year with all our little family together but it was still a very enjoyable occasion.

We were joined for dinner on Christmas Eve by Becky and family. Later it was outside to see Santas parade down the local streets.

I never seem to get the photo exposure quite right. It looks quite light but infact it was just after sundown and getting dark very quickly.

We all had lollies from Santas helpers.

 

 A good time was had by all.

Next morning we were up reasonable early, gathered the presents from under the tree and two excited little boys and headed for Christmas Day celebrations at Beckys  house.

The boys had a great time as usual ripping open presents in minutes that Santas little helpers had taken considerable time to wrap.

Great food and nice deserts.

Swedish salt to season our meal.

A few days later and we had a get-together with the Jordan/Ridgewell family where the boys enjoyed the pool.
