The Trip 2009 - Sweden 32

Sunday 2nd August.

We arrived at Mariehamn on the return leg of our journey, in the early hours of the morning.
I was up early to have a look around.








This is the very picturesque old Customs House from two different deck levels.



Moored astern of us was the Pommern, a four masted barque, now a floating museum.



Leaving Mariehamn again at 10.00.




Following another cruise ship out to sea.



A lonely outpost.


Some nice looking townships along the waterside.








Getting close to Stockholm and the Sunday sailors are out.



The sun worshipers are out also.



Following Cinderella, one of the Viking Line ships back into Stockholm.




A reverse Bungy jump from a big crane at Nacka.









Nearly back where we started from. We had rain on and off all the way back but it didn't spoil a very good trip.

The Trip 2009 - Sweden 31

Saturday 1st August.

Had a very nice breakfast before going on deck to be greeted by an overcast morning for our arrival into Visby harbour on the island of Gotland.



It looks to be a very narrow entrance!



Our first glimpse of this lovely medieval town.

The Birka Paradise.



A busy little yacht harbour. Elin and Jim on the right of the photo. We walked along to the tourist information centre and booked a guided tour, in English!



We noticed these bike stands outside the library which had built in covers for the bike saddle.



This was really the start to our tour. Its a lovely place and the following pictures tell the story.











This man was applying tar to his slab house.

Heading back to the boat. This is truly a lovely part of the world and maybe needs to be explored on another trip. We have had a great day!



The boat left Visby at about 1800. We had another nice dinner, did some duty free shopping, read a little and then to bed.
