We awoke to a very grey morning. After a nice breakfast we set out to walk in to the city centre but just as we left the hotel it started to rain. We decided to brave the elements and it rained on and off all day, quite heavy at times.
Walking down Vesterbrogade we came to a big square, Radhuspladsen, which seems to be the central meeting place for the city. There was lots of entertainment happening. At one side of the square is the very impressive Town Hall, across from which is the Design Centre.
A beautiful building inside.
Richly decorated with brick and tile. There is a tour of the clock tower but I missed the time slot.
A bronze statue of Hans Christan Anderson alongside the Town Hall.
From the Town Hall we went down the main shopping street and came across a lovely little bar.
This is what caught my eye. I couldn't believe it when I saw this sign for Bass.
The sign was in this lovely little bar, where we had an early lunch. At ceiling level there was a rotating shaft with paddle wheel type impeller blades, a most unusual air movement system.
This bike seems to have been here for some time for grass to grow!
Amagertorv.
One one side of Amagertorv is the Royal Copenhagen outlet, full of all the good things Danish.
This is an enclosed courtyard cafe within the complex.
The interesting roof line and twisted spire on the Stock Exchange Building.
This is a very eerie underwater sculpture.
The start and finish point for water tours of the city on Gammel Strand.
The city is full of bikes in all shapes and sizes.
Now that's what I call a flower pot. Outside the Town Hall.
Thermometer on the corner of a building facing Town Hall showing 15C.
Interesting to note that it only records a maximum of 20C but also a minimum of the same.
I think this is a very clever idea. The numbers count down the time remaining in which to cross the road.
