The Trip 2009 - Sweden 20

Tuesday 21st July.

Its a sunny but windy morning.

We had to go into Sundbyberg to pick up Di's watch from the repairers. For what it cost, 700Skr, I could have bought her a new one but she likes her old watch and I found out that you never argue with a woman over her watch!

We were running out of reading matter having read the English language books we had picked up in the City Mission shop so we decided to try the library. Elin lent us her library card and we eventually found the library. Not exactly what we were used to, as access was part of a lovely little cafe, but once inside we knew we had found a treasure. The staff, once they realized that we were tourists, couldn't have been more helpful. Most of the staff spoke English in varying degrees and we were soon pointed to a special section of English language books where we loaded Elins card to full capacity.

When we got back to E&J's apartment and were standing out on the balcony, we heard English being spoken outside the apartment below. Being the sticky beaks that we are, we introduced ourselves and found out that they were the English parents of their son who is married to a Swedish girl and they also are expecting their first Swedish grandchild a little later than Elin, in February. (they actually had twins)

We did some washing and sorted emails but only found out later that the dryer wasn't working properly so had to iron dry a lot of the clothes as our 3 hour time slot was up. Still it kept me busy.

Early evening, Lotta called for us all and took us to her Fathers apartment which he has very kindly loaned to us for a few days while he is on holiday. Its a beautiful apartment in an old block in the city, at Kungsholmen, about 5 mins walk from Jim's office.

The apartment is full of antiques and books.

When we were on our own we had a little walk just locally to get our bearings.

Quite close to the apartment is this lovely church, Kungsholms Kyrka, which was still unlocked quite late at night.

Outside the church there was a poster advertising a Choral Concert featuring the Orthodox Singers from Tallinn in Estland. We will most definitely try and be there.
