A nice morning and we had meant to go in to Worcester and look around, just for old times sake, but that was before the girls arrived. Mal and Ivor were looking after two of their grandchildren, Holly and Penny who had been promised ice creams at a local nursery. The nursery was there when we lived in the area so, along with the promise of ice cream, we decided to tag along.
The nursery is Webs at Wychbold, which covers over 50 acres, has a good cafe, large play area and is a very popular place with visitors.
The girls ended up with muffins and ice creams to follow.
We were told that the River Salwarpe flowed through a wild meadow at the bottom of the site so we walked down to have a look.
A truly beautiful wild meadow and a quiet spot. We noticed a building at the bottom of the meadow and went to explore.
The building turned out to be a Hobbit house.
While walking here we met a very nice gentleman, Mike, who was the head gardener. He explained that this was the first Hobbit house to be built with others to follow, all interconnected with tunnels. What a great children's play area this will make.
Red Lupins.
Fairies at the bottom of the garden.
After leaving the nursery we eventually went into Worcester. Not much has changed in the city but its always good to come back.
The Worcester Guildhall.
High Street looking towards The Foregate.
Worcester Cathedral and the statue to Edward Elgar.
Later we had a very nice dinner with Mal and Ivor at the Robin Hood at Wychbold. Its strange to think that some of my paternal ancestors came from this Wychbold/Droitwich area in the early 1800's.
