Travelling 2016 - Day 20

Saturday 18th June

Having said our sad goodbyes, we finally left Val and Rod at about 10.30 heading for Llandridrod Wells.
Our first stop of the day, except for petrol, was at King Street in Llandeilo to see friends Gloria and Chris Vaughan-Roberts, one time residents of Richmond NSW. The V-R's have a very nice shop called Peppercorn selling mainly kitchenware. Saturday is never a good day to call but we were determined to do so as on our last trip we missed them. Parking is always a problem and the shop is always busy. We finally found a parking spot and walked to the shop where we had a great welcome. Lots of catch-up gossip of old friends and places although we only stayed for coffee as the shop was busy.

We drove through some familiar but still very beautiful countryside before stopping for a late lunch in Llandovery.

The ruins of Llandovery Castle

The stainless steel monument to Llywelyn ap Gruffydd Fychan.

The Three Wells Hotel at Llandridrod Wells.

Very quiet and secluded.
