Holiday 2012 - Day 8

Jim woke us up just before 05.00 and drove us out to the airport at Arlanda.  We were early for our 07.55 flight to Manchester but just as well as we had to do a self serve check-in which was a new experience for us. Lucky for us their was a very helpful SAS man on hand to help.We had been worried about luggage weights but when we weighed in we were well under.  We left the majority of our cold weather gear in Sweden as everyone knows that England is warmer.
On the plane we sat amongst a nice group of Swedes who were heading to Llandudno, North Wales for a week playing golf.
We picked up our hire car which wasn't what we ordered. Instead of a Mondeo we were given a Nissan Qashqai.  Very nice vehicle complete with child's seat for Johan and a SatNav. It was a good job that I had printed out the route from the airport to Jane's at Clive, near Shrewsbury, as I had no idea how to set or use a SatNav.

We arrived at Janes at about 01.00. It was lovely to see Jane again and very considerate of her to work at home so that she would be there when we arrived. This is their very nice new home from the front.

It is set among a small grouping of houses called The Orchard which is obviously what the land was used for originally.  This house is to the left of the drive.

This house is to the right of the drive and the entrance to Janes back garden is just beyond the garage with the open door.

This is the view, from the landing window, looking towards Shrewsbury and the Welsh hills. There is little to stop the cold winds from Wales and we were frozen. We should have know better than to trust English weather.
