Holiday 2012 - Day 14

It rained overnight but I still managed to be up early and had a walk in light rain and strong winds.

Those clouds above the rape are threatening again.

A little bit of colour starting to show on some trees and bushes.

We had a very nice leisurely breakfast with lots of reminiscing and catch up talk.  Ray left for home about 11.00. I had a very useful crash course from Andrew on how to set the SatNav. I have christened the voice Gladys for some obscure reason.
While we were in the area we tried to contact Mal and Ivor but they weren't answering their phone.
We drove down towards Worcester to check out our old house in Northwick and nothing has really changed.  On the way back to Droitwich we drove passed Mal and Ivor's house and found some very friendly builders hard at work, but no Mal and Ivor.

From Droitwich we headed west to Leominster, Herefordshire, and the village of Weobly. It was raining quite heavily but this was one stop I had to make.  One of my favourite authors is Phil Rickman who lives on the Welsh borders and has a character in his books called Merrily Watkins. Merrily is the parish priest in a fictitious village called Ledwardine which is supposedly based on Weobly.

Beautiful village but nowhere open for a late lunch.

Heading back towards Shrewsbury we stopped in another favorite town, Ludlow, but the weather didn't make the stop pleasant so we just grabbed a quick cup of coffee and continued on to Shrewsbury and thus back to Clive.
