Beautiful orchids everywhere in the lounge at Bangkok.
We left Bangkok at 0030 on SAS flight SK972. We were a little late leaving due to some military action over Afghanistan but we still arrived in Copenhagen on time. As it was to be the longest leg of the flight we both took a tablet recommended by a friend and we had a few hours sleep which was great. SAS are a very good airline with good food, service etc. far better than Thai who we flew with from Sydney.
We landed in Copenhagen, in the rain, at 0650 and then flew on to Manchester, arriving 0930. It was very cold, just 11C. We picked up our hire car, a VW Golf, and headed for our first night on English soil, staying at a guest house in York.

We arrived at Goldsmiths guest House about midday. We have a beautiful room right at the top of the house with nice en-suite bathroom. Only problem was getting the luggage up there! Very narrow stairs and big heavy suitcases don't mix.

Having got ourselves settled in we walked into the city along the river. Only about a 10 min walk. The city was very busy, I had forgotten how many people there are. We did a bit of shopping while getting our bearings and fixed up our mobile phone with a new card. The weather turned very cold with a strong wind so we headed back to the digs.
