When we lived in Worcester we used to pick strawberries near Witley Court and it has always been one of our favourite places. Over the years we have seen it progress from a burnt out ruin with derelict gardens to a burnt out ruin with very nice gardens and a unique fountain.

We were very lucky to catch the fountain in operation as it doesn't run all the time. The jets of water are gravity fed from a dam higher on the property, the fountain being built in the days before big pumps and electric power.
The only part of the building not to be destroyed in the fire was the family church which is finely decorated with some very fine Italian marble.

In the grounds there are nice tea rooms where we introduced Elin to the delights of English scones with cream and jam.

I think she likes them!!
We finally got to Worcester where I went a walk to take photos of some of my favourite places while everyone else went shopping.

We are dodging the rain again.

The decorative fascia of the Guildhall.

Worcester Cathedral.

This gate leads down from the cathedral grounds and on to the river walk, on the other side of which, there are....

records of all the river flood levels.

The bridge over the river Severn.

Looking back at the cathedral from the river bridge.
