Continuing the holiday.

When we were told that the family reunion would be in Worcestershire, at the Masons Arms in Wichenford, I started to look around for accommodation for us, Johan and Jim. I found a nice AirB&B just up the road at Great Witley and booked us in for the time that the boys would be with us in the UK.

Our flight wasn't until late afternoon and we were driven in to the airport by good friends Pam and Larry in their new Tesla. Very impressive motor car.

I do hate all the rigmarole involved with flying these days, all the searches and controls but do realize they are necessary. Slipping off your shoes is OK but having to empty all your pockets and remove a belt is ridiculous. Still it gives the control people a laugh when your trousers fall down. Then having to go through it all again on changing planes.

The flight was as usual, very long and tiring. Never seem to be able to sleep, just doze between watching movies to fill in the time. We hadn't flown with Etihad before but the service and food were very good.

We arrived in Manchester early morning and were met by Johan, with big hugs, and by Jim. Having picked up our hire car we headed South for Great Witley. As we had all day to get there we took our time and enjoyed the company of the boys and the countryside. We stopped in Bridgnorth for some food and to stretch our legs.

It s the only town I know where the public toilets have a function that allows payment by credit card.

Johan and Jim had a ride on the Bridgnorth Cliff Railway between top and bottom town.

A walk around the castle grounds and gardens ...

.... where Johan tried to correct the leaning tower wall.

Johan in the castle gardens where he had been years before.

Way back in 2012

We arrived at our B&B in Great Witley late afternoon. Very nice accommodation and family.

Having unloaded all the luggage we drove out to find a nice place for dinner. We found a nice pub with good food and Johan impressed us with his language skills and confidence when he walked to the bar and ordered his desert. Three different colours of ice cream.

It wasn't until we came to leave the pud that we realised than it was where the family reunion was to be held.
