The base of the
tree is approximately 1500mm x 1000mm
On further
inspection, having washed out all the sawdust, there was definitely a crack in
the trunk. It doesn’t run completely from side to side and at this level is
only about 50mm deep. When the fellers cut through the base it didn’t split
apart as we had expected. Although with the tree approximately 100ft tall, there must have been a tremendous strain on it.
