A few problems and Dr Who.

This blog was meant to be written this morning but unfortunately our modem died on us. RIP Linksys.
I spoke to our resident computer nerds who promised to look into which would be the best replacement for us but before they could our neighbour Iris came to the rescue.

At the beginning of the year Iris had the same sort of problem so she went out and bought a new modem. Later she found out that the modem wasn't the problem but her service provider. Fortunately for us she had a new and unused modem so we came to an arrangement.

I couldn't get the new modem to link up with our provider but with the help of our very knowledgeable nerds, an hour later we are up and running once again. Now all we have to do is link up the laptops, but that can wait.

Dr Who!! for those in the know, a new series is to start on the 24th of this month but for the lucky few who could get tickets, they had a chance to see a preview of the show and meet the new Dr. and his companion. Becky entered a competition and won two tickets so she and Alex were able to go to the show and meet and ask questions later.

Di and myself agreed to drive them into the city and while the show was on we would see the city lights and hopefully take some nice nighttime photographs. Not everything went as planned as it turned out to be a very wet night with the city having 50mm of rain, whereas here at home we had a light shower that netted us 2mm.

Becky with the tickets and her nails painted to match the occasion.

The foyer of the beautiful old State Theatre with lots of Dr Who look-a likes in attendance. The whole city appeared to be in Dr.Who mode.

Unfortunately while Becky and Alex were enjoying themselves we were sheltering from the very cold wind and rain in the Queen Victoria Building.

Its a totally different building at night. Very few people around and well lit which shows up many different colours, angles and plains.

To sum up the evening, Becky and Alex had a great time, Di and myself were cold and damp but then to crown it all we couldn't get out of the car park. When we came to leave, the machine wouldn't accept out ticket and we had to wait around for 30mins before an attendant turned up to let us out.

We didn't even get to enjoy the show second hand as all the ticket holders were sworn to secrecy and could not divulge the details of the first episode of the new series.

Definitely a night to remember but for different reasons.
