Speakers.

For many years we have had a pair of huge stereo speakers that were built by an engineer that worked for Marconi. They are excellent speakers but far too large and in recent years they have become a repository for family photos, nick nacks etc. so it was decided they must go .............. sometime.

A couple of years ago we had to replace our TV as the tube failed. It was an expensive, heavy and well made unit but obviously nothing lasts forever. Its now been replaced with a modern ultra slim, light weight LCD units. Never one to waste anything, I removed the speakers from the old TV as "they might come in useful one day".

So the decision was made to finally get rid of the old speakers, but what to replace them with?
Well, I had the two speakers in the shed and a pile of timber so why not make them myself.

The boxes were made from thick MDF board, screwed, glued, sealed and lined on the inside.

Finally getting a few coats of white paint and some home made grilles.

If I do say so myself, they look pretty good and sound as good as the old ones.

Alex has been staying for a few days of recuperation and we lost him. He had got the step ladder so that he could look over the fence and watch gardeners next door laying a new lawn. Here he is trying to remove a branch that was in his way!
