We are having a heatwave. It started a few days ago and will last until the middle of next week. Henry and Jim have been spending time at the pool but as today's temperature was forecast to be 40C we decided to drive up in to the Blue Mountains where we hope its cooler.
We left home quite early, to beat the tourist rush, and drove up to Katoomba to visit Scenic World and the Dinosaur display.
Once we had our tickets we headed for the worlds steepest passenger railway, so we are told, which runs at an inclination of 52 degrees.
Looking down on the station and the train just about to leave.
Its very hard to take photos that will show the slope. Basically the seats are very laid back and when we start the descent we are nearly standing upright. henry hanging on tight.
Looking over the Jamison Valley from the bottom platform.
The Three Sisters from a different viewpoint.
This is the next rain coming down.
A clutch of Dinosaur eggs found in the rain forest.
Its amazing whats down in this forest!
Look whats over there Farfar.
Having a well earned rest.
Henry and a baby Dinosaur.
After seeing lots of Dinosaurs and walking down to the valley floor we caught the cable car back to the top.
We then a ride on the Scenic Skyway.
Henry was fascinated by the glass floor in the gondola.
A great day out but still very hot when we got home. I don't know what we will do tomorrow which is going to be hotter.
