I've had a few problems with the electrics on the Westfield. It was off the road for nearly two months. I couldn't fix the problem, the local Auto Electrician couldn't completely fix it but with the help of good friend Jumbo she's back in full working order.
As you probably know, son James broke his arm a few months ago, skateboarding would you believe. Lots of plates and screws etc. but is getting the use back now. Not to be outdone, Becky did the same last month. Not skateboarding this time. She was rushing to the front door to take a parcel off the postman, slipped and fell, hitting her head and breaking her arm and smashing bones in her wrist. Again lots of metal, screws and wires. All the stitches are now out and she is doing lots of physio. I had thought of including photos of the X-ray, head stitches, wire rods hanging out of the wound etc. but you might have been having a meal.
About the middle of November we had a short visit from our niece Louise and husband Andrew. It was great to see them and catch up with all the family news.
While Louise and Andrew were here Becky and the family came over so that we could start mixing two Christmas cakes, one for us and one for Becky as usual, we thought that it would be nice to get the boys involved! We had to have two mixing bowls, two sets of scales etc. and insist that everyone had a stir. Ben sorted us out, he’s the born organiser! When we mentioned it, the first thing Ben said was ‘it’s a bake off’ and could we make a video. I had to tell him that there wasn’t room for an audience in our kitchen.

When Ben finished his cooking stint, he and Andrew managed to get some 'jamming' time in.
We were speaking
to Ben on skype one night recently so that he could show us his latest school award,
when James also called up at the same time.
Seemingly by magic
James was able to divide the screen in half and we were able to talk to Becky
and Jim and their families all at the same time. Isn’t technology wonderful? We
were able to see and talk to our four grandsons all together, two of whom were
in another country on the other side of the world. I really should get into
this modern tech stuff but on second thoughts, why should I with all these
experts around me.
James just
casually dropped into the conversation the BIG news that he and Henri are
coming here for Christmas. They arrive 9th December for 6 weeks, that's tomorrow!! What a shock,
hearts racing just thinking about it. Absolute
panic and we have had a few sleepless nights just attempting to plan and worrying
about Johan not coming. Happily Johan seems to have settled well into his second
year at big school and having time off for such a trip as this is not
encouraged. It’s a lot easier to take Henri out of pre-school than
Johan out of big school.
Becky and Jim had
planned this as a surprise/shock so we are slowly adjusting to a different
Christmas this year with all the additional work load.
That’s about it
for now as I have to get on line and do a bit of flight tracking. Take off is
in a couple of hours.
Whoopee!!!
