Vivid Sydney

Again, going through lots of photos taken when Elin, Jim and Johan were with us, I came across these which I had forgotten about.

Vivid Sydney is the annual illumination extravaganza which shows the city in lots of different colours.

Now in its third year, the festival transforms the harbour side district into a sweeping canvas, with large-scale light installations and projections splashed across the city's most recognizable landmarks, starting with the Opera House. The festival runs for about 3 weeks.

Becky, Elin, Alex and myself went in to take photos and parked on the Western side of the bridge.

We walked under to the other side and were so enthralled with the light show on the Opera House that we didn't get to walk up into the city.

There were just too many colour combination's to show photos of them all here.

Looking towards the city and across at Circular Quay, most of the big city buildings had ever changing illuminated facades.

Although it was cold, we ended our visit with an ice cream. That's Elin and Alex at the ice cream van.

Maybe next year we can start in the city and wend our way down to the Quay.

Beautiful pictures! The Opera house has a perfect construction for this event. Its like hugh sailing boats coming with different colors on their sails. And, the time for an ice cream is never wrong!
