For a long time now we have wanted to take Alex for a day out to the Zoo so without too much fore thought we arranged to go at the end of the school holidays, when, in theory no one else would be there. BIG mistake as everyone else must have had the same idea.

Here's a cool dude waiting for the Rivercat.

We drove to Rydalemere and caught the Rivercat into the city and then the ferry across to Taronga Zoo.

This must be the best sited Zoo in the world, over looking Sydney Harbour.

We rode the chairlift from the ferry wharf up to the top of the Zoo and then over the day made our way down the hill.

We marveled at all the usual favourites.

Even if they were behind dirty glass.

This was the little bloke that everyone wanted to see, the latest addition to the elephant family, Mr Shuffles.
After a long, nice but tiring day, it was back to the ferry and the reverse trip home.

Never again will I go anywhere during school holidays! I seem to remember saying the same thing when our own children were at school, how quickly we forget!
